Despite wider uncertainty within the luxury market, demand for precious metal sports watches remains incredibly strong.
Record Prices Continue at Watch Auctions
The watch auction market continues to go from strength to strength, with Phillips’ New York Watch Auction XIV becoming the highest-grossing watch auction ever held in the United States.
Over two days, the auction realised an incredible $75.8 million (£56 million) in sales, comfortably beating the previous U.S. record of $43.5 million, which Phillips itself set just six months earlier.
The headline of the lot was an extraordinary F.P. Journe Chronomètre à Résonance “Souscription No. 007”, which sold for $13.92 million after almost nine minutes of bidding. That result made it:
- The most expensive F.P. Journe ever sold.
- The most expensive watch by any independent watchmaker.
- The most expensive 21st-century wristwatch ever sold at a commercial auction.
Jewellery News
Russia Introduces New Lab-Grown Diamond Labelling
From September, Russia will introduce new regulations requiring laboratory-grown diamonds to be labelled as “synthetic diamonds” rather than simply “diamonds.”
The move is designed to improve transparency for consumers and make it immediately clear whether a stone is natural or laboratory-grown.
The announcement carries particular significance because Russia is one of the world’s largest producers of natural diamonds, accounting for around one-third of global rough diamond production by volume through mining company Alrosa. As one of the industry’s most influential producers, changes to Russia’s diamond policies are closely watched across the global jewellery trade.
High Jewellery Continues to Thrive
Despite a softer luxury market in some sectors, the world’s leading jewellery maisons continue to invest heavily in extraordinary one-of-a-kind creations.
Recent launches include Cartier’s En Équilibre collection, Van Cleef & Arpels’ Fascinating Egypt, Tiffany & Co.’s Blue Book 2026: Hidden Garden, Piaget’s Extraleganza and Buccellati’s Serenissima. These collections feature exceptionally rare gemstones, transformable designs and hundreds of hours of craftsmanship, highlighting that demand for exceptional high jewellery remains strong among collectors.
Fashion News
Quiet Luxury Shows No Signs of Slowing
The “quiet luxury” movement continues to influence fashion houses around the world.
Rather than oversized logos and bold branding, consumers are increasingly choosing skilled tailoring, exceptional materials and understated elegance.
Brands are responding by focusing on craftsmanship and heritage rather than seasonal trends.
Luxury Brands Continue to Invest in Experiences
Luxury is becoming increasingly about experiences rather than simply products.
This summer has seen brands transform some of Europe’s most exclusive destinations into immersive luxury experiences:
- Dolce & Gabbana has taken over the Four Seasons San Domenico Palace in Sicily.
- Burberry has transformed the Hôtel Belles Rives in Antibes.
- Gucci has decorated Monaco’s La Rose des Vents beach club.
- Dior has partnered with Il Riccio beach club in Capri.
- Jacquemus has created a branded experience at the Mandarin Oriental on the Turkish Riviera.

Personalisation Continues to Define Luxury Motoring
Manufacturers including Rolls-Royce, Bentley and Ferrari continue expanding their bespoke programmes as buyers increasingly seek cars built specifically around their own tastes.
Whether it’s bespoke paint colours, hand-stitched interiors or personalised embroidery, modern luxury buyers are placing greater value on individuality than ever before.
Lamborghini Celebrates 60 Years of the Miura
Lamborghini has announced a major celebration for the 60th anniversary of the Miura, widely regarded as the world’s first true supercar. During Pebble Beach Automotive Week later this month, more than 40 Lamborghini Miuras are expected to gather in what will be the largest Miura display ever assembled.
